Optical Design and Lens Engineering for Dive Imaging Systems
Optical performance is where a dive mask becomes a measurement instrument, not just a window. We design and engineer the optical path for imaging, display and lighting systems inside diving products — taken on as OEM, ODM or joint development, with NDA respected by default.
What We Take On
- Lens design — Objective and eyepiece design for viewing and image-capture systems, optimised for underwater focal behaviour and eye relief.
- Industrial camera optics — Compact lenses sized for in-mask and on-product cameras, with mounting integrated into the housing architecture.
- Infrared imaging — Single- and dual-band IR optical paths for visibility enhancement in low-light water.
- Off-axis freeform optics — Freeform and off-axis layouts for HUD and AR display combiners, where conventional asymmetric designs cannot be used.
- Optical simulation — Imaging and illumination simulation to validate luminance distribution, stray light and colour before tooling begins.
Validation
We simulate the optical design against the real viewing and imaging geometry of the product, then validate the assembled unit for clarity, distortion, stray light and environmental performance. The specific test plan is set against your target application.
What You Get
- Feasibility review of the optical approach against your cost and space constraints
- Optical design with simulation results, including imaging and illumination analysis
- Lens and housing integration guidance for manufacturability
- Prototype support and optical validation reports
- Handover files for tooling and pilot production
FAQ
- Do you work on AR display optics?
- Yes. We design off-axis freeform optics for HUD and AR display combiners integrated into diving masks.
- Can you validate imaging in underwater conditions?
- Yes. We use simulation and assembled-unit validation to confirm clarity, distortion and stray light in the real viewing geometry.
- At what stage should we bring you in?
- Earliest is best. Optical architecture decisions made at concept stage cost far less to change than the same decisions made later in development.
- Can you work under NDA?
- Yes. We develop under NDA and do not reference client programs, brands or specifications.
